Thus far we have received confirmation from 25 schools in 7 counties to participate in YLA on March 15.

Agenda for March 15 Set

The agenda has been finalized for Youth Leadership Academy on March 15, 2010 at Coastal Carolina University.

9-9:30 a.m.- Arrival of Students at Wheelwright Auditorium

9:30-10:15 a.m.- Welcome Session: President David A. Decenzo and Keynote Speaker Coach David Bennett- Opening Session: Technology and Social Media

10:30 a.m.-1:15 p.m.- Breakout Sessions- Edwards Building- Hands on activities focused on teamwork and improving leadership skills

1:30-2 p.m.- Wrap Up Session at Wheelwright Auditorium

Scholarship Announced!

YLA is happy to announce a $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior that participated in YLA during their sophomore year. Schools will be contacted by members of the Leadership Grand Strand class to let them know which students are eligible in applying. There will be an online application and the winner will be chosen by Leadership Grand Strand Class 30. The participant must have attended YLA in 2008 as a sophomore and must be continuing with a higher education after high school.

Response has been overwhelming!

Youth Leadership Academy is still 3 1/2 months away, but the response to the annual program has been awesome! We have 26 high schools confirmed and coming from 7 of the 8 counties including, Horry, Georgetown, Florence, Darlington, Dillon, Williamsburg, Marlboro and Marion. We also are excited to have several schools participating that have never attended this event. More updates on schools coming soon!
